An affordable way to learn and integrate this valuable information that helps us have a body in harmony with gravity. This will be an ongoing, progressive class through the series, but you would benefit from each class as a unit as well.

Taught by Liesje Smith

Wednesdays 9:30am-10:45am

Location: The Great Room at Main Street Landing

Weekly and ongoing, Starting May 15

This  class connects  movement and our sense perceptions to discover better functional movement  for  whole body/mind/spirit integration. Using The Rolfing 'Ten Series' Structure, this movement practice gives a very valuable offering that Rolfing practitioners can bring to the community in a group format.

Typically, the Rolfing experience has been delivered in 10 private bodywork sessions and it’s aim is to gently yet directly relieve chronic patterns of tension and adhesion that build up in the body, due to not knowing how to deal with the pressures of the force of gravity.

Recently, Rolf Movement has been greatly developing, thanks to one amazing teacher named Hubert Godard, a dancer, a neuroscientist and a Rolfer. And now, many Rolfers are beginning to include movement in their practice, because we can clearly see that there’s so much potential for clients when they have  a real experience through their bodies.

This is what Rolf Movement offers: you can learn to understand what you are actually doing when you learn to relate with the earth, gravity and the sky and that that will make a great difference to how you function, age, express and make impact.

This class is for you!!

It’s a process that is developed over time and that’s why I’m offering this class with an exciting collaboration with Main Street Landing!

In this class you’ll develop better functional movement strategies by learning through:

  • our mingling together where there’s lots to notice

  • attention on perception, like time, space, weight and shape

  • feel how the Earth and the field of gravity offers informed and wise choices of orientation, and why that matters

  • develop the ability to transition between inner and outer experience,

  • feel vibrant, alive, energized, motivated, cleared and settled and ready for the rest of the day

  • Substantial structural change for more ease and efficiency in your movement

  • Increase your movement choices and therefore the quality of your life

  • Release fascial stagnation and strengthen inner connected tissue

  • better align with your sense of self as a sense of body

  • have the desired effect you want to steer yourself toward: a better, more holistic choice

What’s a class like?

Enjoy a quiet morning laying on the floor with some friends, a mat, a stick, a ball, a small rolled towel. Find your feet ‘standing’ on the floor and feel the contact, as if for the first time, as you to let them sink through the floor and notice the floor rises to you. It is there for you. Feel that experience.

It matters. It gets digested and integrated. It counts!

In that rooted state, you softly watch your hands float away with the stick and feel a full and open breath come through.

There’s a sense of light breaking open tension. Fascial is flowing, clearing and strengthening.

Soft rolling sunlight moves along the high walls. We sense the ground below the building in contact with the lake outside the window, call us awake.

Locate yourself there and feel nourished by the connection with ground and sky.

Source/inspiration for this class:

Using a committed and dedicated study of Body Mind Centering® and Rolf Movement®, I’m curious about liberating habitual movement patterns, energetic blockages, the health of the fascia, emotional suffering and physical impairments and helping people more easily loosen, clear out and repair these sticky hang ups from the past.

Practicing in a group class is supportive, energizing and totally fun and empowering!

Thank you Kyla Waldon of Main Street Landing for helping make this dream come alive!

My BIG desire is to grow and strengthen this class so it becomes ongoing and sustaining. Please consider becoming a regular movement student for your ongoing movement wellness!
